Hareline's large northern bucktails are widely regarded as the best available for fly tying. You'll find more usable fibers on these than standard bucktails and at a fraction of the cost. They are perfect for long saltwater streamers, deceivers, clouser minnows, jigs & more. They also work great for freshwater patterns for bass, pike, and muskie. These premium bucktails are clean, evenly dyed, and are available in a ton of fish-catching colors. Also great for tying jigs, lures, and musky bucktails!

  • Hair fibers average 3" - 4" in length
  • Approximate size per tail: 10" x 5"

Please note: On occasion, Hareline will put two smaller bucktails in one package, but the quantity and quality per package will be the same as one larger bucktail, if not better.

I am happy with the chartreuse Bucktail. I use it for tying spinners and jigs for trout and walleye, Pike and bass. It was a big tail it'll last several years I would definitely recommend. Great product fast delivery.

Hareline bucktail

Most, that's most Hareline bucktails are in fact large, but not all of them are. I was disappointed in the size of 2 of the tails I ordered and received. IF they really were "northern whitetails", as advertised, they were from northern "fawn" whitetails. This is NOT a Fly Artist issue, not their fault! In fact, I was very pleased with the purchase and delivery process of my order. Thanks Fly Artist!!!!
